Ramen

After fishing all day on a cold lake, Keisuke and I went for Ramen.

This is the second time I've been here - the first being years ago when Keisuke and I first met.

The shop seats ten... fortunately it was late and we were the only guests. If you ask any of the drivers at the taxi queue at the train station to take you to the best ramen in the area, you'll be dropped off here. There are signs at the counter that say when people are waiting for a seat, be considerate and eat fast.

Simple interior - about 3.5 ft between the door and the counter.

Keisuke admitted he frequents this place up to 4 times a week at times. Needless to say he didn't even look at the menu. Bowl of ramen for 650 yen ($5.47).

Same master as before, nice guy.

Kind of hard to see, but the white sign says cooked pork. I think they are tenderloins that have been cured in one way or another. The magic of this place is definitely in the pork. You can buy the tenderloin alone if you want to try to recreate this at home.

The spoons look deceptively shallow. However, they are the perfect shape and size to compliment the use of chopsticks.

Keisuke call this his drug, I call it poison. Either way, it is so good. Even just typing this up I'm drooling and considering this for dinner. The richness of the pork permeates every pore in your body - the noodles tender but never soft. The broth leaves a film of pork fat on your lips more moisturizing than chap-stick. To top it off, the master even threw a couple extra slices of tenderloin as service... I have to go eat something, this is torturing me.

Nice Ramen
